Diabetics at TGI Friday

If you're a diabetic, then you must be extra careful while dining at TGI Friday. Try the salad menu at TGI Friday to keep your sugar and sodium intake in check. Soups are great to keep you full and satisfied without munching on the unhealthy greased meat-based dishes on TGI Friday menu.

Foods to Avoid at TGI Friday for Diabetics:

Sugar and sodium intake are crucial if you have diabetes. While the salads are the best option for you at TGI Friday, it is recommended to avoid the Pecan-Crusted Chicken Salad containing over 1000 calories and 1,650mg sodium. If I could give this place higher stars I certainly would. I stumbled upon this place, with no prior research and I was absolutely AMAZED. A Highly Recommend. The LOBSTER- ROLL meal is to die for and ditto to the FISH TACOS. It was our daily routine b4 and after the beach. Thank you Friendly's, I will be back. You can order via phone or in person. Take to go or to stay. Bon Lobst-etit :)

I've been here a couple times and my family loves their lobster rolls. I definitely recommend these rolls as they do not skip on lobster meat, it's really fresh, and the dressing is light. The bun is toasted just right and accompanied by a generous about of yummy fries. Apparently it's Rachel Ray's favorite in the area. I prefer hot lobster rolls on butter (which they don't serve here) but for a cold lobster roll I'm a big fan.

  • Stella L.

The lobster roll is good. We do not really like fried seafood. The large strips tastes weird.

Simply outstanding. We spend several weeks on the Cape each summer and have had an opportunity to dine at nearly all of the popular Eastham seafood spots. Without nAming nAmes I can share that the quality of seafood at Friendly Fisherman tops all we have tried. Eat-in accommodations are very modest however dine-in or take-out we have never been disappointed. Add in the very courteous staff and you can't help but want to recommend FF to friends and family. Looking forward to our next visit !

I cannot figure out why people are rating this place so high, I really can't. Based on other's reviews, we decided to try this place for dinner. We were in Eastham, we were hungry, and people seem to be over the moon happy with this place. The Atmosphere- Was gross. Why? Well, for one, there are no restrooms unless you consider 2 dirty porta-potties with no place to wash your hands in the back parking lot a restroom. Why would you want to wash your hands when eating finger food anyway? Gross. Had we seen this before ordering, we would have left. Other than that, picnic tables with plastic clothes much as one would expect for a cheap casual eatery. Too bad this place wasn't cheap! I'd have to say that they charge sit down with a view prices to sit in a dirty parking lot to eat. Not cool. The Food- I wanted the Lobster Roll, but I hate celery and lots of places on the cape serve it that way so when we arrived I asked the cashier about the lobster roll and if it had celery in it. Her response was that she didn't think so but the lobster is all just premade so they couldn't do anything different if it was. Oh well. I'm not paying $21.00 for premixed, not fresh lobster, so I ordered the clam strip dinner ($16.99), and the Shrimp and corn bisque cup ($4.95). My partner ordered the Fish & Chips ($16.99) and a cup of Clam Chowder ($4.99). The soups were good, and were an appropriate amount of soup as expected. The Shrimp & Corn bisque had a little spice to it which I liked. I do with it had a little more shrimp in it. I think I only had 2 in the entire cup. The clam chowder tasted good but a little bland, and only had little pieces of clam in it, but there was a lot of potato. For the meals- The Clams were good, and there were a lot of them. So many that I couldn't finish them in fact. They tasted exactly like every other clam strip I have ever had so they were nothing special, but they did taste fresh as they were tender and not chewy. The fries were awful, pre-frozen, soggy and tasteless. They were not worth wasting calories on. I tossed all but 2. I'm not a fan of slaw, and I did taste it and it was fine, tasted exactly like cabbage with mayo. For $16.99 I do not consider this meal a good value considering that the only edible bit was the clam, and $17.00 for some clams is way too much. My partner had the fish and chips, and he also tossed all the "CHIPS", as they were gross. The fish was decent. It tasted fresh, and there was about 7-8 oz of it I would guess. i liked that the meat was tender and flaky while the outside was crispy but not too battered. I'd say this was the best part of the meals. But again, $17 for 3 little pieces of fried fish is way too much. I would not recommend this place at all. It was way too pricy for what they offer in terms of a complete meal and ambiance, they don't care about their customers enough to offer a proper restroom or any place to wash hands, and we were left feeling like the $50 we spent was a complete waste.

  • Ann P.

Wow, what happened. Tiny portion of fries, no cole slaw and small roll. I will say, the meat is mostly chunks, little mayo but it was a small portion for the price. The clam chowder was thin but had a nice flavor and nice pieces of clams. I think it's time to move on from what used to be my favorite place for lobster.

  • Lawrence A.

Swordfish tacos were great today. The kids liked the fish & chips and clam strips. Salads were huge. Eating area was fine for a take out place. Overall a very good take out place.

  • Mary R.

freshest fried clams I have ever had. My husband got the lobster roll-he gave me a whole claw from his roll because it was to big to fit in his mouth. Returned the next day for more clam strips! Love the casual outdoor seating-perfect when you come straight from the beach. Can't wait to go back.

    (5)
  • Barry T.

One of the best lobster rolls I have ever had. It is worth the stop if you want a good lobster roll and you don't mind spending nearly $20. However, the clam chowder was extremely watery which is NOT a good characteristic of good New England clam chowder. The worst cup I have had on Cape by far. I can't speak for any other food because that is all we had. The table next to us said that the lobster bisque was good but had the same complaint about the clam chowder.

  • Diana N.

it's fun. it's cute. stick your head in a lobster cut out at the back. watch kiddies on the play on the swing set as you stuff your face with small (that's actually a large) portion of deep fried clams.

  • Kevin B.

I love this fish market. The staff is always friendly and their fish is always excellent. They even have fish and chips to go. Really a quality place and it is not quite as busy as Arnold's with better fried clams...

    (5)
  • K D.

I think their fried clam strips are the best on the cape by far. They are always perfectly cooked and never greasy. Their chowder is good as is their lobster roll. I've also had their swordfish tacos in the past and they were a nice departure from usual fried stuff. For 2-3 ppl get the fisherman platter to share. It's a massive amount of food but so good and a perfect way to sample a bit of everything.

I had the crab cake dinner and it was delicious! Different than any crab cakes I've had. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meals and the atmosphere was great.

  • Lisa W.

3.5 stars. Pretty good place for some seafood. It's hard not to compare it to Arnold's down the street, but I enjoyed the fried clam plate I got here - a giant pile of freshly fried clams and fries, and they had malted vinegar as a condiment choice! The hubby, however, did not like his crab cakes plate - it was more like.. fried cake with crab flavor, so that was disappointing. So 4 stars for mine, 2 stars for his, averages out to 3, right? :)

    (3)
  • Bill W.

Very consistent. So much better than the other local options! Fish market is great as well.

    (4)
  • Michael A.

Awesome lobster roll, a little too much mayo, but nevertheless, tasty! The place is a small self service style shack with 3 windows. Window #1 order, window #2 pickup, window #3 trash.

    (4)
  • Erica N.

Excellent fried fish, but the chips, clam chowder, and fried clam strips were way too greasy!

    (3)
  • Theo K.

Some of the best, classic New England fare can be found at The Friendly Fisherman. Delicious lobster rolls, perfectly cooked fried scallops, clams and fish. Light and tender, never heavy and over cooked. The lobster bisque isn't as good as I had hoped; lacking in flavor and hardly any lobster was contained in my cup. But this wasn't even close to a deal breaker. I'll be heading back there again, no doubt.

    (4)
  • Anne B.

Best lobster rolls, big claws on top and lots of meat in the roll. Expensive so we treat ourselves once a year when we come down. It's worth it!

    (5)
  • Thomas B.

One of my favorite lobster rolls...EVER. I will admit that the BF and I have traveled around New England seeking the best lobster roll. This one is excellent. It is full of luscious lobster...claw meaty-licious. It is served with a lovely piece of lettuce on it, which I like and the roll is toasted to perfection. Do not let the price steer you away...it is well worth the price! You order at the window and then sit. This is not to be taken in a scary way. You are not at a roadside Tastee Freeze, what comes out is a work of art. The chowder was great. I would have liked a few more clams and potatoes in it, but it was fresh and tasted homemade, not canned. I looked at other diners plates and the food look delicious. Excellent stop.

  • Derek D.

Had 2 of the lunch specials today, fish tacos and fried clams... The fish taco was not great, jarred salsa and bottled sour cream... Fries clams were nice, but the coleslaw was pretty awful... Lobster bisque was passable and the clam chowder was quite tasty with a decent number of clams...

    (2)
  • Matt V.

Rachel Ray was RIGHT! (Go figure) The lobster was piled on the bun in the lobster rolls, with tons of tail meat and full claws. The service was quick and classic cape cod: order at a tiny window and sit at the picnic tables outside. The clam chowder and fries were great too!

    (5)
  • Harry L.

great lobster rolls here. Served on a bed of lettuce. Portions are big and its byob as well. My friends and I tried a couple of the items off the menu. The clam chowder is excellent. Slightly too thick and served too hot for my taste but it did have good texture and flavor. The baked fish was a bit dissapointing. My friend got it and it looked rather unappetizing and the taste wasn't too great either. Onion rings are goo.d You get a big plateful and they are made fresh to order.

Friendly Fisherman has some of the best seafood around. It just opened for the season.

Not sure where other reviewers were eating, but this spot has little to recommend. Stopped by after visiting Doane Rock (w/M. Doane) based on the reviews. Had a lobster roll, a shrimp roll, crab cakes and a Caesar salad. The lobster and shrimp were cooked properly, but the lobster was served dry. If the mayo sauce in a little side cup was for the lobster (a light mayo sauce is convention, right?) rather than the crab cakes, it was too garlicky. Also, then the crab cakes, which were way more cake than crab, would have been too dry. The French Fries were pretty decent and the Caesar salad was as expected. Don't put anything in the tip jar until your food's delivered. Our food was put out missing the Caesar salad and when I went to the counter to ask, our waits-person shrugged. Glad there was a manager nearby.

  • Mike F.

A great atmosphere. Eat outside, enjoy the weather, and excellent food. The lobster rolls are worth the stop. Definitely the most lobster seen on the role. Scallops were also excellent. Remember, BYOB!

  • Jas L.

STILL, again and again, one of my favorite places. I eat here every summer, and cant get enough of the fish and chips. as a local i have had my fair share of fish and chips, and i can tell you, for sure, you wont get anything better, fresher, and quicker than this lovely local eats.

  • Graham B.

Me and my family went to the friendly fisherman and had an excellent time. I ordered the fish and chips and they were delicious, I loved the fries. The lobster was yummy, and the onion rings were delectable. Great atmosphere, great food, and a great fish market. If you ever go to wellfleet, be sure to go to the friendly fisherman.

  • Christina H.

Meh... Maybe it's better during weekends, but I'm not even remotely impressed. Seafood cakes were very tasty, but the chowder and bisque were both mediocre at best. Chowder didn't have any real flavor and the bisque was water thin and devoid of any actual meat bits or the rich, classic mouth-feel that it should have.

  • Ken D.

Best Lobster rolls on lower cape! Great fried Seafood, very fresh Great homemade onion rings Fried clams are small sweet bellies, not big mushy black bellies All large portions

  • J B.

Halibut was outstanding - creamy and smooth with a Ritz cracker crust. $17 was steep for a baked fish with a small portion of rice pilaf and coleslaw. The slaw was lacking vinegar for my taste and not creamy enough and almost tasted like a salad jammed in a cup without dressing. The quahog was overdone and lacked the punch I was looking for in a quahog. I am looking for more of a "loose" flaky fill instead. The chowder was very bland and lacked flavor. Not a bad deal, but again tastes are individual so try it and maybe our tastes are similar.

  • Paul S.

My wife and I rarely order the lobster rolls but we decided to spring for them here. Pricey at $18 until you realize just how mush delicious chunks of lobster you get. So a bit of a splurge but worth it. The playground is a plus for kids although it could use some sprucing up. The chalkboard for kids is always a draw that will occupy the kids. It's picnic table casual but the food is good and the wait is by far less than Arnold's (which we passed and had a long winding line for probably pricier fare). Plus they take credit cards (unlike Arnold's). And it's BYOB! The fried dishes others were enjoying looked plentiful as well. So worth a try.

    (4)
  • Bill M.

Went with family because other places had too long of a wait. Fish on the fish and chips was excellent. Clam bellies were very good. Clam strip sandwich was good too with many strips. I liked the cole slaw, not too greasy or sour. The fries could have been a little crispier. The atmosphere is basic. I wouldn't go far out of my way to eat here but I would not hesitate to stop again if I was in the area and wanted fresh seafood. The connected fish Market gives me confidence of fresher food.

  • Suzie L.

The lobster roll is the best! Huge pieces of lobster so tender and yummy. A bit pricey but worth treating yourself. You will not feel bad about the price after you've had the lobster roll. In fact, we went two days in a row, the food was just too good for one day. My son had the lobster, in which, he absolutely loved. The clam strips were good too. Most places leave a funny aftertaste in my mouth after eating clamstrips. No aftertaste here. It's all outdoor seating. We went on a very hot and humid day and with the covering overhead, it was tolerable.

    (5)
  • S M.

Average "summer on the cape" fare. Fried seafood was pretty decent. Only REAL issue was with the lobster bisque. It had no lobster in it. They should have called it "lobster bisque flavored bisque". I could tell what it was supposed to be, but come on, man! This is cape cod, not Dayton Ohio. We have expectations here!

    (3)
  • Rob Y.

Ok for startahs...the best fish market to date...can not get it fresher...pick up a homemade pie, strawberry rhubarb my favorite, too! Then on another night order the fisherman's plater in the clam shack enough for 2-3 da best!

    (5)
  • Lauren C.

Best lobster roll on the Cape! The portions are extremely generous, the bun is toasted, the lettuce to lobster ratio (that is to say, 1:10) is perfect. After eating several that weren't quite right earlier in the week, I've found my go-to place. It should be yours too!

    (5)
  • Evie B.

I had every intention of going here and ordering more clam bellies/oysters or shrimp, BUT NO, my hubs wanted to try the lobster roll as that is what they are famous for or have great reviews for serving. Wish I had stuck with my idea... I've never had a cold lobster roll, so don't have anything to measure this by except that I don't like mayo and lobster together, so this wouldn't be my thing to order. The positives...nice chunks of lobster and lots of it all served on a toasted bun. This is NOT a big sand. and I think it was $21...yeah...but that seems to be the going price for a lobster roll. Hubs ordered the same thing and it wasn't his favorite choice of items, but I think it's because we LOVE warm lobster. So it's not a reflection on the place, rather our taste buds. I would definitely return to try the other seafood items. The service was very nice and fast. Seating is outdoors and you cozy up with strangers. It wasn't busy.

    (4)
  • Bill M.

This place still delivers a great sandwich, good chowder and small drinks. I docked one star for the napkin issue.

    (4)
  • Rachel L.

First time here & we'll be back! Fried whole belly clams were lightly bread, sweet & fresh. Fried fish also light, crispy, perfectly done. Big portions, fast service, virtually no wait. Give them a try.

  • Madaline C.

So so. The food tasted pretty good while we were eating it. Clam strips, fish and chips etc (we did not try the lobster rolls). None of us raved. Have had just as good clam strips at Friendly's. Later on we all felt crappy and queasy. Could just be all that it was all fried. Nothing special, and not horrible. It's byob.

Location: 4 out of 5 Seeing as there's only one real way to get in and out of Cape Cod it's not terribly inconvenient to get to Friendly Fisherman. We actually stumbled across this place on accident - you see, I wanted to go to Arnold's because I saw their website, and it had some singing sea creatures, and I thought, "Wouldn't it be delicious to have those singing sea creatures in my stomach?" but then when we drove by Arnold's, it was PACKED. So begrudgingly, I kept driving until I saw the Friendly Fisherman. I picked it because it was the least crowded, and I thought, "All lobster is good in this general area - even the most average of lobster will still be delicious." Bazinga, what a fortuitous choice! There is a free gravel lot. Ambience: 5 out of 5 Now...you may say to yourself, "Why is an outdoors restaurant getting 5 stars? It doesn't even have a real bathroom!" All true statements. You sit on picnic tables to eat. What's great about that? Well - in the summer, as the sun is setting...the temperature becomes optimal for wearing shorts and a t-shirt. If you're old enough to drink, you'll be smart and run to the liquor/beer store across the parking lot after you've ordered your food. And as the sun sets and it becomes darker over the picnic tables, the taste of Whale's Tale beer along with lobster, lobster rolls, stuffed clams, and "chowda" becomes metaphorically intoxicating. And it makes you appreciate that you're alive. Unlike the lobsters you're eating, which are dead. There's a little playground attached for the kiddos, and a neat little cutout where you can have your picture taken with a lobster body. Customer Service and Amenities of Restaurant: NA No rating. You know why? Cause you eat outdoors with your hands and maybe some plastic cutlery. You're not there to dine on 500 thread count linens while waiters dote on you. The bathroom is a portapotty in the very back. Just enjoy the moment. The young ladies that take your order are nice enough, and some have that distinctive New England accent, "Want some clam chowda with your Lahbstah?" which incidentally is sort of manly and fascinating when men have the accent, but sort of...odd when you hear pretty girls speak with the same one. Hrm. Quality of Lobsters: 4 out of 5 Tender and sweet, fairly easy to crack open without using the "cracker" they've provided you, which is nothing but a rock. True story. The special when I dined there in September of 2011 was 2 cull lobsters (a cull lobster only has 1 claw) for 24.95. In other words, you get what would be the equivalent of a whole lobster with an added tail and other bits of tastiness. Quality of Lobster Rolls: 5 out of 5 I wonder if the whole lobsters are all cull lobsters because they use one claw for the rolls. I really don't know. The quality of lobster rolls here is outstanding. Better than The Lobster Shack at 2 Lights, partly due to a personal preference that I like the meat blended with the mayo and celery, instead of having a dab of mayo on top. Indeed the lobster roll is enormous, and at under 15 dollars, it cost effective as well. Quality of Fried Clams: 5 out of 5 Probably the best friend clams I had on my trip to New England. If you like fried clams, you'll love these. No joke - the combo of the batter they use with the freshness of the clams almost makes the sauces obsolete. Quality of Stuffed Clams: 3 out of 5 Decent, but not as tantalizing as the ones I had at Cape Ann Brewing Company. (Man, we ate a lot here, huh...) Not being a real connoisseur of stuffed clams, or quahogs, if you will - I can't say for sure that these are only "A-OK", because it's quite possible that these were quite good, and the ones I had at Cape Ann Brewing Company were just stunning. If I went back, I might skip this item. Quality of Clam "Chowda": 4 out of 5 Think you've had clam chowder before? False. This clam chowder was strong, pungent, and admittedly, the color was off-putting because of the high clam content. Delicious, though not for the faint of heart, as there's a wild quasi-gaminess to how it tastes. If you like steamers, think about magnifying that taste by about 10 with a cream base, and that's what you have. I liked it lots, but you've been warned. Price: 4 out of 5 Not too shabby. The 2 cull lobster dinner was around 25 bucks, the roll was about 15, the clams were about 15, and the soup/stuffed quahogs were about 10 or 12 total. Yes, I realize that we ate a lot, but we were on vacation. Overall: 4 out of 5 Very strong 4 star review. I really think that had I not ordered the stuffed quahogs, it would have tipped the review over to a 5 star review. In reality, this is a 4.25 to 4.5 star experience, but my rounding methodology puts it at a 4. But again, I have to reiterate that it's a tremendously compelling 4, and by no means am I implying that Friendly Fisherman is anything short of exemplary.

We ate there yesterday and it was clean nice and we were all happy with the food, lobster roll, fish and chips, fried clams and onion rings. However, my wife was throwing up several hours later. She has the seafood cakes. So, might it have been something else? I suppose...but after throwing up she was fine. So, in summary, I would say go for it, but don't have the fish cakes. Probably a good rule for any roadside place....you never know what is going in them. More than likely, whatever did not sell then previous days.

Our best meal on vacation was at The Friendly Fisherman. On a Friday afternoon, there was no wait and our order was taken quickly. We ordered a lobster roll and the clam dinner (belly and all!) The lobster roll was the best I've seen and tasted. 5 stars because the lobster was simple and fresh and filled with huge pieces of lobster! The clam dinner was crispy, not greasy and the portion large enough for 2-3 people. Great service, lots of picnic tables and a friendly atmosphere. The perfect summer meal!

Lots of talk about this lobster roll so that is what I ordered. The lobster roll was very good, but not amazing and the food was very pricy. My husband got a fried clams he enjoyed them, but said they were a bit heavy and greasy

Okay, so we went again to the Friendly Fisherman with some family members, this time for lunch. It wasn't crowded at all, even though, again, it was Memorial Day weekend. I think I can safely speak for everyone in the group by saying the Friendly Fisherman exceeded all expectations again. From clam strips to lobster rolls. Bravo.

We stopped by after finding out that Arnold's down the road was a 2 hour wait. Most of the picnic tables were empty when we got there but more people showed up after we got there. The food was okay but the combo platter was really big. It could easily fill 3 - 4 people to the rim even they claimed 2-3 people on their menu. We got so sick with all the fried food afterward that we avoided them for the next few days. This place is worth a visit but may be no more than once a trip.

The fried seafood platter for 2 was delicious. Huge portions. Cute ambiance. Bring your own drinks and relax. We went twice during our one week visit. It was one of our favorite places.

Meh, it's ok, but certainly not anywhere near a top choice for seafood. Fried stuff is decent. Very limited non-fried options. Shrimp cocktail had perfectly cooked shrimp, albeit on the small side. Certainly not any sort of value. What really put me off was the lobster bisque. Charge me $10 for a pint, but lobster bisque should show signs of lobster. Not a single bit. Not looking for a lobster roll's worth, but seriously not one little piece. It was basically pink lobster stock. There is rarely more than a few people in line and the delivery is quick. Most other top places have line twice around the building, there is reason the Friendly Fisherman does not....it's just not worth waiting for.

This review is for the market only, haven't tried the restaurant: The place is a little pricey. Try the seafood sausage, it's fantastic!

A bit expensive. Got the big platter and didn't realize it was all fried food. Too much fried seafood, made my mouth dry. Also got the steamed lobster, it was cooked good.

Great local market with fresh produce & lobster. LOVE. The restaurant part... it's fine. outdoor seating, fried "tourist" foods. Okay.

Big lobster roll and very yummy! They didn't give many french fries, but the lobster is more important to me. :) eat outside on stone under an awning. Plenty of parking, with fast friendly service. This was the first year we ate here but we plan on coming back for more!

After searching for many years and trying every fried clam on Cape Cod, the honor of the best fried clam on Cape Cod belongs to the Friendly Fisherman. The clams are big and plump with a good beer batter. But if fired is not your thing, they make a mean lobster roll or crab roll. But the stay away from the clam chowder--too thick and floury. Great for kids as they have a little playground in the back. They do not have a liquor licence but are conveniently located next to a liquor store. They also have a great fish market, everything fresh and local, so you can pick up dinner while you are at it.

BEST lobster roll on the Cape! Don't even waste your time on lobster rolls from other restaurants.

I love this place. Great food, good service and although their sign said "no pets", I was able to bring my puppy along for the perfect summer day. I've had the lobster rolls before which are huge-lots of great claw meat and not too much mayo, just the way i like them. This time, i had the fried scallops. Yeah, they were a little greasy but it was just what I wanted and the scallops were huge.

This place is a cape tradition for us. I just love their lobster rolls and fried clams. And the kids love being able to run around and play in the mini playground.

Didn't quite live up to the hype. Lobster roll was good but definitely not the best. Chowder is more like potato chowder. Fried cod was fairly tasty.

We stopped here for a quick dinner before hitting the Wellfleet Drive-In. It was perfect for this. I got the Clam Dinner, he got the special FRESH tuna roll. Both were very delicious. Staff was friendly and service was FAST. A very no-frills place, but it doesn't need to be with food that is so good. Next time it will be Lobster Rolls all around, it's what everyone around us had and they looked wonderful.

Been going to the Fisherman for three years now every time I'm up at the Cape. This past week I was at the Fisherman twice. We ordered the seafood platter (a large amount of food for $35), a lobster roll, and fish and chips each time. The atmosphere is ideal, and casual. They even allow you to bring your own beverages in...many tourists bring their own beer in. The food is great, delicious, and I'd definitely recommend this for anyone visiting Eastham and wants delicious local fare.

i was looking for a place to eat in the area and came upon the friendly fisherman. i didn't even know that it had received press from a food network personality and when i read that they have the best lobster rolls, i just had to give it a try. seafood is expensive. you're going to have to shell out a few $20s when you come here. but what you get is indeed a very meaty, piled high above the buttered and toasted bread, easy on the mayo lobster roll. i honestly felt like i was eating lobster and not lobster salad and bread, which is what i've experienced in maine. we also ordered a side of fried whole clams since i've never seen these offered anywhere else. they were must better than fried clam strips, which can feel like you're eating mostly fried breading. it was obvious that locals and visitors alike come here for their seafood fix. a handful of people opted to call in their order instead of waiting on line for 20+ minutes to place an order and another 15 for their food to be ready. there's a small playground with swings and a chalkboard for kids to stay occupied. another plus is that the friendly fisherman is in a plaza so there's ample parking and they accept credit cards!

  • Fiona O.

This is not a good restaurant. My friends and I were served withered browning over-boiled corn with our lobster, and the bathrooms are gross port-a-potties. Everywhere around here serves the items on this menu, so skip the friendly fisherman and go somewhere worth it.

  • James L.

Very expensive for the quality of food. Having just traveled from Acadia through Portland, Boston, Plymouth and then Cape Cod, this place served the most expensive but lowest quality lobster rolls compared to other places. The seafood salad roll and the seafood cakes were also mediocre. The clam chowder was good, however. There really is nothing to brag to other travelers about.

BEST CLAM STRIPS IN THE CAPE. I go to the cape several times a year every year in search of clam strips. Its my #1 summer time favorite food. Needless to say, I have tried several clam strip places in the cape. Friendly Fisherman offers the largest plate, full of the largest strips, at the best price. They have a couple little picnic tables outside. No frills kinda place. I love that its small and homely. Just how everything on the cape should be. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Friendly Fisherman. I cant wait to go back to the cape to get some more!

Lots of fried food but very well done. Not your average greasy fried clams or calamari. Great little spot to get away from the touristy spots.

Without a doubt, the Friendly Fisherman is in my top 3 favorite places to eat of all time. I have been eating there for almost 30 years (because I wasn't eating solid food yet in year 1!) The food is so amazingly fresh and delicious, cooked to order with extremely generous portions and none of the hype of other "local Cape Cod famous eateries". My two favorite items on the menu are the stuffed cohaug which is a toasted, spicy, rich, fist-sized appetizer treat and the most amazing lobster roll in the world. No, seriously, this lobster roll has everything you could possibly want in a lobster roll- huge chunks of lobster meat gently tossed in a not-too-heavy mayonnaise based sauce and piled outrageously high on a buttered, toasted, hot dog roll and adorned by a crispy and always fresh feathered lettuce leaf. That's it. Couldn't be more simple, more delicious ingredients. Their fisherman's platter is also impressive with literally pounds of shrimp, clams, fish, and squid piled on a bed of fresh, golden french fries. They have unforgettable clam chowder and even, I dare say, a DELICIOUS chicken finger basket for those of you who don't eat out of the ocean! The market boasts an impressive array of raw and cooked fish, local breads, spreads, jams, frozen foods and fresh produce. They will cook any fish you buy for you if you call ahead, as well! During on-season time, I suggest calling WAY in advance or expect to wait a LONG time to sample the fare- but it is worth it! A real, classic, Cape Cod tradition enjoyed by seasoners and locals alike!

THis review is for the store, not the restaurant. Awesome, awesome service! I come here often and am always greeted with a smile. They have fresh fish and lobsters, as well as shellfish. A few times they have been out of what I wanted (swordfish) and recommended another shop - I think that's great service! They also have fresh produce, some great frozen items like stuff quahogs, and a nice selection of breads and pastas. Ample lobster tank and selection!! Love this place.

Part of my Cape Cod exploration included a road side calm shack that had some bad ass fried belly clams....and THIS WAS IT !! It was everything I was looking for ... BYOB and not fancy at all , just good ol' fried seafood... I got the fried clam dinner with fries and slaws and TORE IT DOWN !! It's obvious that everything is fresh here and it is nice to just sit on a picnic table and taste what fresh seafood New England has to offer. I would def consider making this part of your Cape Cod ( Eastham) itinerary .. Your Welcome....

Don't know what all the hype is about. Rachel Ray was dead wrong about the $17+ Lobster roll. It was not even close to being the best. The Clam Strips, though, are absolutely delicious!!! But even those clam strips can't save the tacky outdoor seating and charmless decor. We also made the incredible mistake of ordering Clam Chowda and a bowl of Lobster Bisque. The lady at the counter claimed these 2 soups were both very good. She must be a heavy drug user because one was worse than the next. The Chowda lacked any flavor, the Bisque had not even a hint of lobster stock/taste, and the consistency was just BARFTASTIC. Overall, this place is way overrated and I ask of you my fellow Yelpers to please do yourself a favor and avoid anything but the clam strips here. Oh and the place has BYOB which is nice with a wine/beer store next door. But that's like finding a rainbow after a hurricane has destroyed your home and killed your dog...

If you just need a lobster or a lobster roll, this is the place. We got a two lobster deal for ~$21 just because they each only had one claw. (They actually had all or part of the second claw, but we'll keep that between us.) A few things you need to know: There is no alcohol but there is a package store a few stores over. Bring cups from home if you go the wine route... There are port-a-johns, I know, I lost a few of you on that one, but it's true. Bring water to wash your hands... Lots of kids, if that's not your thing, you might not want to sit next to their playground. Picnic benches - dress accordingly!

  • Andy B.

Good lobster shack type atmosphere. Lobster rolls were large and satisfying. French fries pretty bad. No alcohol but many brought their own. Good amount of picnic tables and places to eat.

Great family place. There's a small play yard and picnic tables. Food is delicious!! Great prices too. Out houses for bathrooms but very clean!!

    (4)
  • Amy P.

Don't expect anything fancy. This is a take out or eat on picnic tables outside kinda joint. However, this is the BEST lobster roll on the Cape in my opinion...For the price, the amount of lobster heaped into the perfectly toasted bun is spectacular. There's also a great little fish market attached if you're cooking in.

  • Stephanie G.

Ohhh drool, I love the Friendly Fisherman! They take fresh seafood and deep fry it to perfection. It's a little more low key than a lot of the other fried sea food joints, so you might miss it if you're not looking, but it is so, so good. The prices are not cheap, but they're decent (hey, when you're getting good stuff, it'll cost you) and I would say it's definitely worth it. I love the Fisherman's Platter with everything, and just thinking about the fish and chips makes me hungry. Too bad it's closed this time of year. Don't forget to check out the market that's part of the restaurant. Observe the lack of fish smell - that's how you know that their stuff is fresh. Also, you didn't hear it from me, but there is a liquor store in the same parking lot, hmm.

    (4)
  • Kyle O.

Very expensive for low quality stuff. Cheap thin rolls, terrible cole slaw, unimpressive fish. The seafood roll we got looked like the imitation seafood salad you get from the supermarket. Avoid.

    (1)
  • c j.

Still a great lobster roll, but the size has shrunk considerably. In a year when lobsters are at record low market prices--as they currently are--this just feels like a slap in the face to loyal customers who've been coming here every summer for years.

    (2)
  • Alison W.

My friend and I stopped here hoping for some fresh seafood, which we did not get. They were out of the lobster roll, so we decided to split the seafood platter. What we should have been told, or what should have been described on the menu, is that every single seafood item on the platter was fried. For $36 we were expecting a 'hot pot' of non-fried shellfish. The fries if came with were also very weak and not good. They were obviously frozen and reheated. This place was such a disappointment, and a huge waste of money.

    (1)
  • Rebecca G.

GREAT Lobster Roll! Nice big pieces of lobster and light on the mayo. Good, friendly customer service - your classic Cape Cod style fish shack. Delicious!

    (5)
  • Peter L.

All the food we ordered from the French fries, the fish cakes, the corn, fish and chips, sword fish tacos, and mac n cheese was really mediocre and much of it we ended up tossing. The service was even less to be desired as half of our order was missing the first time around and the hostess claimed she didn't hear me order two other dishes (even though we came with four people.) they get one star since they graciously let us substitute corn for fries, claiming that they did it only because the place was empty...

    (1)
  • Brian E.

Spectacular. Your expected New England clam shack. Outdoor tables, fried food, but fresh, light and delicious. A great find. The fish market is excellent too, and their pies are great, who'd a thought?

  • Kns K.

Not sure about so high rating for this place, my experience was fairly bad. I had the assorted platter, and almost everything scallops, fish, shrimp, clam tasted (no crabcakes, lobster roll ..) exactly same and fairly yuck. I think they use same recipe for all type of fried items, as taste of batter/coating dominates the seafood itself you cant see any difference. I guess i should have also asked what is platter? Shouldn't it be assorted of things done differently not just similarly done different seafood (all deep fried and nothing more). All just deep-friend with bland taste. Place, and people are nice. But I am rating on food alone, as that's what i expect first and foremost.

    (2)
  • Samantha P.

Yummmmmm! This place has my favorite lobster roll. Not too much mayo, large chunks of lobster claw, mixed in with just enough stringy lobster salad. The hot dog bun is buttered and toasted to perfection. Although this restaurant does not serve alcohol, they welcome bringing your own bottle of wine, or six pack of beer. So you can shell out a steep $17 and sit down at a picnic table and sip on a beverage whilst waiting for your name to be called to enjoy one of the best lobster rolls I've ever had.

My favorite seafood market on Cape Cod. From lobsters to local fish. When planing your summer seafood meal make this your stop for seafood.

    (5)
  • Michael G.

Get the fisherman's platter, enough food for three adults, when your down the Cape it's a must stop!!!!! No frills type of place with picnic bench seating!!

  • Christie R.

This little shack is referenced on line and by locals alike for the best lobster rolls on Cape Cod, and they are right! If you have never had an authentic lobster roll, this is THE PLACE. Yes, they are pricey at around $17 each, but for the amount of lobster, it is well worth it. This is not shredded lobster bits, it is generous amounts of LARGE leg and claw chunks, lightly tossed with some mayo and HEAPED onto a toasted hot dog bun. I'm not sure why the Pilgrims bothered with turkey, corn or whatever other foods they had.....with lobster in easy reach, I will be giving thanks for the scrumptious lobster rolls of the FF!!!

  • Annie I.

my girlfriend stalks lobster rolls in MA and she said this was the best she's ever had. so, there's that. my parents and i had an assortment of fried seafood and it was all great! about what you'd expect to pay, not super cheap but seemingly standard for the cape. added bonus---they have outdoor seating but a "no pets" sign. however, we were stopping by on our drive back to boston and had our small dog with us. when we asked, they let us sit in back with her. may not seem like a big deal, but i really appreciate when businesses try to be accommodating when you have a dog with you, especially when there is outdoor seating.

  • Regina T.

The Friendly Fisherman is just that, very friendly. We have enjoyed not only the roadside outdoor cafe, but also their seafood market. First the cafe - I had the fish and chips and lobster bisque and shared with hubby. I'm glad too because the serving was quite large. Daughter and fiance ordered fish and chips and fried clams. The fish and chips were so good. The breading was done well while being seasoned to perfection. They fried the fish wonderfully. While I know this sounds simple, trust me, it's not. The was barely any oil left on the paper plate. As for the lobster bisque, it's wasn't that great. Admittedly I'm a lobster bisque snob, thus the reason for the four stars instead of five. They do not serve beer or wine, but do allow you to bring your own. The service is quick and friendly. Now the seafood market - the seafood is fresh and yummy. I tried the oysters, clams, and lobster. We ate the oysters raw (several times) and made the clams into clams casino. They steamed and split whole lobsters for us - YUMMY (without having to hear the thing scream). Stop by and eat or grab stuff to go. If you're getting whole lobsters and the market, call 1/2 hour ahead and they'll have it ready for you.

I've vacationed in Cape Cod now for the past 10 years and in the earlier years, I would have easily given 5 stars but not anymore. The prices are very high for what you get. The crabcakes are good but the tons of tasteless french frie's and thimble sized cole slaw servings just do not justify the price. We also ordered a couple of stuffies @ $3.49/ea. Also, there are no refills on any of the soda's or even the ice tea. They seemed to consist os a dollop of regular dressing (could not taste any clams - at all) inside of a shell - again, a terrible value. If you go during dinnertime, prepare to wait for a long time. It appears that they simply do not have enough workers to keep up with the pace of business. The previous night, we had gone to the Friday night Fish Fry @ the Elks club (McCoy Rd), a much better value for the money and the fish was very tasty.

Not a bad lobster roll. Nothing special. Go to arnolds down the road at least you can get a margarita while you eat. Portions are not as gigantic as they state unless French fries make a meal for you. Not especially kid friendly. Go to arnolds for a better experience and better meal. Oh and if you need a bathroom, porta potties is all you'll get... Yuck!

this market is so ridiculously overpriced, i can't even believe it. we've been coming to Eastham for over 20 years and when I don't have time to drive to Stop & Shop & I forget how pricey it is, I swing by here for a piece of fish. well it's good fish, but the prices are just crazy. $10/lb for lobster, $3.99 for a scallop cake? $1.99 for ONE bamboo skewer? $21.99/lb for halibut? just insane. Oh, and they have a tip jar. For handing you your overpriced order. Their stuffed clams are pretty bad, too. the take out seafood is(not burgers fries) very good but again it's Very pricey for picnic table order at the window fare. my brother LOVES the picked lobster meat but it's like close to $35/lb or even MORE! at a fish store! Try not to rape your customers so much and they may just come back again.

  • Rosalita E.

Love this place. I've been here almost every summer for the past several years, and the food is always great. I usually get the fried clams (with bellies!), but I've had some of the other things on the menu as well, including those delicious little crab cake things. Also, it's BYOB! Prices are fair and you seat yourself at the picnic tables. I've never been to Arnold's down the street, but I never want to wait in that line, so I'm happy to stick to Friendly Fisherman.

Best lobster roll on the Cape period.

  • Gaby S.

My fiancé and I stopped at this place looking for a good lobster roll and found exactly that. It was heavy on claw meat, light on mayo, and the simple lettuce bed and buttered roll complemented topped off the experience. The roll was about 17.50, so the price slightly detracts from an otherwise 5 star experience for a lobster roll at a roadside restaurant. Fries were great too. We tried the fish and chips the first time around and they were average, so if you go, go for the roll.

    (4)
  • Michael M.

Over priced for what you get, greasy fried food, over priced lobster roll that was mostly claw meat ( you know the rubbery parts). Make sure you wash your hands and use the bathroom before you get there, all they have is nasty port-a-johns for bathrooms. Not what many would consider sanitary, seating is outside on picnic table with dirty old table cloths. For the prices they charge you can go to a sit down place with indoor plumbing, a wait staff and a clean table and get better tasting food. Lobster roll recommended by Rachel ray like what, 8 years ago? A lot can change in that amount of time. I say skip this place.

    (1)
  • John D.

Famous for its lobster roll, we had to try one. I think it was like $17, which seems pricey, but it is lobster and we are in Cape Cod. Or should I say "lobsta"? It was very good. We share that and a fried clam platter. The clams were excellent, not too chewy, but luke cool when served. No frills place - -order at the window and sit at picnic tables outside. I'd do it again.

If you're driving to P-town, this place is ideally located as a lunch stop. Great heaping lobster rolls and fried clams. Clam chowder is a bit on the thick side, and the fries are forgettable. Like their name, the service is friendly. Covered outdoor seating with lots of colorful buoys decorating the fence.

This is the place to stop for chowdah, clams, lobster rolls and other local foods. It has half the lines of its competitors and twice the quality. Not only is the food great but the fish market as some awesome treats to check out too!

I think you should go here instead of Arnold's. This place has very little seating or liquor license, but their food rocks. Fried stuff is great, and one of the best lobster rolls around.

Excellent lobster rolls! A very casual outdoor setting next to a seafood market. Must-go if you were on your way from/to P-town.

Found this place just by happenstance - it's just off the highway about 15 minutes outside of Provincetown. What a find!!! Lobster rolls that are to die for. The lobster is fresh - they're cooking them up in the back and making the lobster salad as they go all day long. The only place to eat is at a picnic bench, but who cares. It was lobster roll heaven. I'm sure they have other great things there, but the lobster roll is number one.

Byob with liquor store next door! Got swordfish tacos which was very good Cole slaw was excellent Fish and chips.... Fish was very fresh but it was not or under seasoned. Quick and courteous service. Seating at picnic tables out back....very laid back staff and patrons. Decent stop.

Swordfish tacos were great today. The kids liked the fish & chips and clam strips. Salads were huge. Eating area was fine for a take out place. Overall a very good take out place.

freshest fried clams I have ever had. My husband got the lobster roll-he gave me a whole claw from his roll because it was to big to fit in his mouth. Returned the next day for more clam strips! Love the casual outdoor seating-perfect when you come straight from the beach. Can't wait to go back.

The table next to us said that the lobster bisque was good but had the same complaint about the clam chowder.

it's fun. it's cute. stick your head in a lobster cut out at the back. watch kiddies on the play on the swing set as you stuff your face with small (that's actually a large) portion of deep fried clams.

I love this fish market. The staff is always friendly and their fish is always excellent. They even have fish and chips to go. Really a quality place and it is not quite as busy as Arnold's with better fried clams...

Very consistent. So much better than the other local options! Fish market is great as well.

Awesome lobster roll, a little too much mayo, but nevertheless, tasty! The place is a small self service style shack with 3 windows. Window #1 order, window #2 pickup, window #3 trash.

Excellent fried fish, but the chips, clam chowder, and fried clam strips were way too greasy!

Best lobster rolls, big claws on top and lots of meat in the roll. Expensive so we treat ourselves once a year when we come down. It's worth it!

  • Harry L.

great lobster rolls here.

A great atmosphere. Eat outside, enjoy the weather, and excellent food. The lobster rolls are worth the stop. Definitely the most lobster seen on the role. Scallops were also excellent. Remember, BYOB!

STILL, again and again, one of my favorite places. I eat here every summer, and cant get enough of the fish and chips. as a local i have had my fair share of fish and chips, and i can tell you, for sure, you wont get anything better, fresher, and quicker than this lovely local eats.

    (5)

  • Jenny M.

  • Sasha B.

    (4)
  • Fiona O.

This is not a good restaurant. My friends and I were served withered browning over-boiled corn with our lobster, and the bathrooms are gross port-a-potties. Everywhere around here serves the items on this menu, so skip the friendly fisherman and go somewhere worth it.

    (2)

  • Kyle O.

Very expensive for low quality stuff. Cheap thin rolls, terrible cole slaw, unimpressive fish. The seafood roll we got looked like the imitation seafood salad you get from the supermarket. Avoid.

Still a great lobster roll, but the size has shrunk considerably. In a year when lobsters are at record low market prices--as they currently are--this just feels like a slap in the face to loyal customers who've been coming here every summer for years.

GREAT Lobster Roll! Nice big pieces of lobster and light on the mayo. Good, friendly customer service - your classic Cape Cod style fish shack. Delicious!

Spectacular. Your expected New England clam shack. Outdoor tables, fried food, but fresh, light and delicious. A great find. The fish market is excellent too, and their pies are great, who'd a thought?

Get the fisherman's platter, enough food for three adults, when your down the Cape it's a must stop!!!!! No frills type of place with picnic bench seating!!

I'm not sure why the Pilgrims bothered with turkey, corn or whatever other foods they had.....with lobster in easy reach, I will be giving thanks for the scrumptious lobster rolls of the FF!!!

my girlfriend stalks lobster rolls in MA and she said this was the best she's ever had. so, there's that. my parents and i had an assortment of fried seafood and it was all great! about what you'd expect to pay, not super cheap but seemingly standard for the cape. added bonus---they have outdoor seating but a "no pets" sign. however, we were stopping by on our drive back to boston and had our small dog with us. when we asked, they let us sit in back with her. may not seem like a big deal, but i really appreciate when businesses try to be accommodating when you have a dog with you, especially when there is outdoor seating.

  • Marie L.

I think you should go here instead of Arnold's. This place has very little seating or liquor license, but their food rocks. Fried stuff is great, and one of the best lobster rolls around.

  • Franklin W.
